A modern landscape for a remarkable Grand Designs style home

This spectacular new build in Drighlington sits on an expansive, flat plot surrounded by open farmland. With the house positioned in one corner of the large square site, more than three-quarters of the garden was left completely untouched. The clients wanted a landscape that matched the scale, style and ambition of their modern home — somewhere functional for family life but impressive enough to complement the architecture.

We divided the vast plot into three key zones to give structure, interest and flexibility:

• Entertaining Terrace
  Flowing directly from the double-height bi-fold doors, we created a generous porcelain-tiled terrace perfect for dining and entertaining. Wide porcelain steps lead seamlessly down into the garden.

• Levelled Family Lawn
  Significant groundwork went into flattening the landscape — essential for creating a large, usable lawn for family activities. This central green space forms the heart of the garden.

• Water & Relaxation Zone
  Further into the garden, we introduced a large natural pond with a sleek, modern waterfall feature. A timber deck offers a peaceful spot to sit close to the water and enjoy the views across the fields.

• Oak Pergola & BBQ Area
  To complete the layout, we added a beautiful oak pergola to form a second outdoor living area, ideal for barbecues and relaxed evenings outside.

The clients now have a garden that matches the scale and style of their incredible home. From morning coffees on the terrace to family time on the lawn and peaceful moments by the pond, every part of this garden has purpose and presence.
