Stylish, Low-Maintenance Garden Design & Build

Bradley & James were appointed to transform a large, flat garden in Beckingham into a modern, stylish space that could be enjoyed all year round. The clients asked for a contemporary aesthetic with easy maintenance and clearly defined zones for relaxing, dining, and entertaining.

To create a flowing layout, we introduced a series of outdoor “rooms” using complementary porcelain tiles in two tones. These surfaces define each area while keeping maintenance requirements low. A sleek metal pergola forms a relaxed seating area, offering shade and comfort without compromising on style. A separate dining zone was positioned in the sunniest corner of the garden, allowing the clients to enjoy long summer evenings and weekend lunches outdoors.

Soft landscaping was added to offset the clean architectural lines. We incorporated corten steel planters with structured planting and box hedging to soften boundaries and improve privacy from neighbouring plots. Brand-new fencing runs throughout the garden, helping to frame each space with a consistent, modern finish.

At the heart of the garden, we created a generous turfed lawn, adding a fresh green centrepiece that contrasts beautifully with the tiled sections.

To maximise enjoyment into the evening, we designed a bespoke outdoor lighting scheme. Subtle, low-level lighting illuminates pathways, planters, and key architectural features, while ambient lighting creates a warm, inviting atmosphere within the seating and dining zones. This ensures the garden remains usable, safe, and visually stunning long after sunset.

The result is a contemporary, low-maintenance garden that feels calm, stylish, and highly functional—day and night. Our clients are absolutely delighted with the transformation and can now enjoy their outdoor space throughout every season.
