In this medium-sized garden, nestled within a new housing development, the owners sought to make a statement and create a standout space. Their desires included having a comfortable sitting area, despite initially having a small patio and a sloped lawn. Additionally, they wanted a garden that was low maintenance and easy to care for.
Responding to the brief, our team envisioned a stepped garden design that would maximise the available space and meet all of the clients’ requirements. We began by incorporating a spacious dining patio, positioned to provide direct access from the house. This expanded area allows the clients to entertain guests comfortably and enjoy al fresco dining in style.
To create a visually striking and structurally sound design, centralised steps were introduced, bordered by beautifully planted beds. These beds not only add colour and texture to the garden but also soften the overall aesthetic. Complementing these natural elements, we incorporated structural metal gabions filled with large pebbles, adding a modern touch and creating a sense of visual interest.
In the lower section of the garden, we carefully allocated space for the clients’ shed and two thoughtfully placed planted beds further enhanced the natural beauty of the garden, while a bench provides a serene spot for relaxation and contemplation.
One of our primary considerations throughout the design process was to create a low maintenance garden that would require minimal upkeep. We carefully selected plants and materials that are resilient and well-suited to the local climate, ensuring the garden remains vibrant and inviting with minimal effort required.
